I don’t even know how to title this – Stop 4

Nothing happened in Belfast. I could leave it at that, but I will write at least some things.

The reason nothing happened is that I was still sick. Surprise. The hostel I stayed at was quite nice, actually. Had a nice cozy feeling and even a fireplace. It seems like a beautiful place to make friends if you are in the mood for it. Which I sadly wasn’t. The few people I talked to were very lovely though!

The trip to Belfast itself was not too eventful. I just took the train back to Dublin and then another to Belfast – but: I learned that there is actually no border crossing on Ireland. And this has nothing (or not much) to do with Brexit. It’s been this way since multiple decades for people and goods. The actual „border“ has been in the Irish sea where it will remain after Brexit as well. Oh, and I got to enjoy the nature or Ireland on the way there. Rolling green hills and actually some sun as well!

I can’t say much about the city of Belfast itself, but from what I’ve seen on my way to the hostel and from there to the ferry it seems like a normal British or Irish city. Some run down areas and a way too fancy shopping district. Some old buildings. That’s it. Another thing is that I learned that the Northern Irish have an even thicker accent than the „countries“ around them. It’s like a mix of a Scottish and an Irish accent and it takes the most unintelligable parts of both of them. And of course everything was British again, so, back to the British Pound.

That’s it though. The only things I could still mention was the snoring guy in the hostel. And I think this is a sign that there was really nothing going on. Instead of gseeing Giant’s Causeway, I stayed in bed. Oh well.

Thank you for reading!
